Dr. Hughes: Hello. I’m Dr. Richard Hughes and welcome to Hughes Family and Implant Dentistry. I was always interested in dentistry, even as a young child. And my grandfather was a dentist. And the dentist in our community was rather instrumental in getting me into dentistry. He was a nice guy. He would explain things. “Well, this is a person I’d like to be like when I grow up.” So subsequently, I became a dentist. What I love most about my job, being a dentist and an implant dentist, is I can improve people’s lives. And I take a lot of pride in that effort.
Man 1: He really shows interest in his patients. He’s extremely good with kids.
Woman 1: He’s convenient. He’s great. His office staff is . . . they’re just excellent.
Woman 2: I like to have a personal relationship with all my patients. I love when the children come in. They bring me school pictures and they also draw pictures to put on the wall. I’m just a people person and I love to give them hugs and tell them I love them because I love all my patients.
Dr. Hughes: I think to be a good clinician, whether it be dentistry, medicine, whatever, you’ve got to like people. You’ve got to be a people person.
Woman 3: Dr. Hughes has been very good to me, very kind, very considerate.
Woman 4: I live in Winchester, Virginia, so I could travel, or I could stay home and see a dentist there. But I like Doctor Hughes and I like his bedside manner. He takes care of me. He knows when I have a problem and he takes care of it.
Dr. Hughes: My philosophy, overall, is to treat people as you want them to treat you, and be honest with them, be forthright and whatever happens, happens.
Man 2: He takes his time. He does a good, good evaluation before he even starts, so you know where you’re coming from and you know what’s going to happen.
Man 3: I’d recommend Dr. Hughes to anyone.
Dr. Hughes: At the end of the day, I feel fulfilled knowing I did a good job for my patients.
