Dr. Hughes discusses the two types of teeth whitening available at his practice: in-office and take-home. He finds the absolute best results incorporate a combination of the two. At-home bleaching can maintain bright, white results over time.
In my practice, we also offer teeth whitening for folks that present with stained teeth. We have two types of bleaching methods in this office. One we use the in-house where the patient comes in and we bleach their teeth chairside with an ultraviolet light. And then we like to follow-up or continue with at-home bleaching then also have then come back for another session of intensive bleaching in the office using the ultraviolet light.
The other method, the patient is on their own. We monitor them and they bleach at night or they bleach in the daytime while they’re driving to work or whenever that may be. So they can pretty much dial in exactly how light they want their teeth to be. For patients that have more aggressive staining, we realize that bleaching will not help their situation so that’s the perfect candidate for veneering of the teeth.
